Case study · WordPress performance & resilience

Designing a WordPress product for faster, more independent Iranian websites.

Pishtaz is a Pro WordPress plugin in early development for reducing reliance on external web requests. Gramida is shaping a resilient architecture that makes websites faster in normal conditions and less vulnerable when international connectivity becomes slow or unavailable.

The operating context

The business constraint

Many WordPress sites depend on external fonts, avatars, embeds, update checks, CDNs and analytics. When any of these sources becomes slow or unavailable, pages and admin workflows can wait on long timeouts. The product challenge is to reduce this dependency without turning site operations into a brittle set of manual switches.

What Gramida designed and built

  1. A modular, clean and event-driven PHP architecture for blocking, monitoring, local assets, core management, optimisation, licensing and updates.
  2. LocalHost for serving selected fonts, avatar assets and front-end dependencies locally.
  3. SmartMode for detecting connectivity conditions, preventing unnecessary external calls and returning to normal behaviour automatically.
  4. SpeedReport, documented REST API and WP-CLI support, with a React SPA admin panel planned for a professional operating experience.

Evidence and outcomes

This project is at an early implementation stage. The numbers shown in the product model are design targets and benchmark scenarios, not production results: reducing external requests from roughly 30–50 to 2–5, and improving a representative page-load benchmark from about 4.2 seconds to about 1.8 seconds. These targets will be replaced with measured release data after testing.

What the work reinforced

The strongest resilience products create value in both states: they make the site faster when connectivity is healthy and protect continuity when it is not. Measurement matters too; a before-and-after report turns technical work into a customer-visible benefit.
